Are you looking for a Colorado hiking elopement photographer that will help you find the most beautiful mountain locations? Or an elopement photographer that will hike along with you to get to the best spots? I have your back! One of the absolute best things about getting married in Colorado is that you don’t need an officiant to legally marry you. That means you can say your vows and get married pretty much anywhere in the state. You don’t have to worry about hiring an officiant or bringing along witnesses to get to those locations that require hiking.
As an adventure elopement and couples photographer, I spend a good amount of time personally scouting the best Colorado locations for my couples. I have loads of suggestions and places that I recommend to them, but understandably, sometimes it’s nice to see an actual couple at that particular location. I found an amazing couple to hike to this gorgeous mountain and lake location with me, and guys… IT WAS MAGIC! The gorgeous blue lake, green evergreen trees, glacier, and mountains in the distance are perfect for your Colorado hiking elopement. I always try my best to find locations that have a little bit of everything!
the adventure begins…
I met Melanie and TJ at the trailhead, and then we started our hike through a stunning forest together. Being surrounded by the trees and feeling like you’re in the middle of nowhere is truly one of the best feelings! Then, Melanie changed into her dress, and we wandered all around the lake. She was wearing the most beautiful bohemian headpiece, which complimented her dress perfectly! Also, how cute are her brown boots? You don’t need high heels or fancy shoes… hiking boots and Colorado scenery go pretty dang well together. š I’m just in LOVE with the idea of wedding attire and hiking boots together. There’s something about that adventurous aspect that fills me with so much joy. I think it’s knowing that couples are choosing to not get married in a traditional way, and instead follow their hearts and choose adventure!
After hanging out by the lake area, we hiked further up to get a better view of the glacier and Colorado rocky mountains in the distance. We climbed on rocks, found beautiful yellow wildflowers, and ran around the glacier/lake. It was SO much fun and is what adventure elopements are all about. It still amazes me that you can see snow fields in August, surrounded by green grass and flowers. It’s pretty wild, and I absolutely. love. it.
After spending some time by the glacier and back at the lake again, we packed our bags and started hiking back down. The forest area looked even MORE amazing after the sun had set. You can even see the moon peaking out in the blue sky with the mountains in the background! And don’t even get me started on the INCREDIBLE floral bouquet from Boulder Blooms. The blues, whites, and pops of yellow are the perfect combination for a summer elopement!
why I love elopements…
Eloping allows you to have a meaningful, intimate, and intentional day together where you’re able to do what YOU want to do. It puts the focus back on the two of you committing your lives together, without the typical production aspect a traditional wedding has. You can create the wedding day of your dreams and plan an adventure together, which eliminates so much of the stress large weddings have.
If you’re wanting to elope in a beautiful location with your partner, I can’t recommend Colorado enough. There’s so many stunning locations throughout the state, and being able to self-solemnize is a huge plus.
