This beautiful Sapphire Point elopement completely takes my breath away. This location is incredible, and has to be one of my favorite places that I’ve seen since living in Colorado. I first visited this location just a couple months after moving here, and I instantly fell in love. My husband and I felt like we were walking in a winter wonderland, and that’s exactly how it looked for Lianna and Cory’s stunning Colorado elopement! These two flew out to Colorado from the east coast for their intimate elopement with me. It was a total dream!
Cory walked down the trail to wait for us for a first look, while I helped Lianna button the back of her dress from her car. I HIGHLY suggest a first look for all of my couples. It’s the first time you’re seeing each other dressed up, and it’s a huge comforting relief before your ceremony begins. It’s truly the best and I love seeing how excited and giddy couples get!
After Lianna’s dress was all buttoned up, we were off to walk through the snow to meet Cory. As we were walking, it starting snowing just a tiny bit and it was so magical! Then, they held each other, pulled out their vow books, and I shed a tear (or ten).
Next, they popped champagne, cuddled one another for warmth, and we took in the incredible Rocky Mountain views and beautiful snow-covered trees. Towards the end, I may have sunken nearly waist deep in the snow while trying to capture wide shots, haha! It’s hard to tell in the photos, but some of that snow was easily multiple feet deep. The Colorado snow storms weren’t messing around this year. Thankfully, the snow gives romantic winter wonderland vibes. 🙂
I whole heartedly believe that nature is the BEST wedding venue and you can never, ever go wrong with adventuring in the outdoors instead. Also, I have to say being the ONLY other person to be with a couple during one of the most intimate moments of their lives is a complete honor. I get a little emotional just thinking about it. Witnessing two people say their hand-written vows and capturing every moment is a dream turned reality. It’s an AMAZING feeling and I can’t really put into words what it means to me. I like to think of the mountains and the trees as witnesses too. 😉
Let your dress get dirty. Put on the hiking boots. Embrace whatever nature has to throw at you, especially in Colorado, and ADVENTURE. If no one has told you this before, you CAN make your wedding day into whatever the heck you want it to be.
Are you planning a big wedding, but find yourself stressed out and feeling like it’s not really what you two want? It’s okay to throw the big plans away, and instead do what feels right for the both of you. I love helping my couples create the wedding day of their dreams. To create an experience that’s different than what might be expected, that’s unique to you, and centered around being in the outdoors.
Colorado is one of very few states where you can self-solemnize. This means you don’t need an officiant to legally get married; you can marry yourselves! No witnesses needed. I can’t think of a better way to start this new chapter and incredible adventure together. If you’re planning your elopement and in search of a photographer, head here and I would love to help bring your dream to life.
